Once upon a time there was a little girl called Laura. Laura was a very lucky little girl. Her Mummy and Daddy used to read to her every night before bed, and introduced her to a world of magic and wonder with children’s classics like Charlie the Chimney Sweep and Sooty, Lost at the Fair and the Tales of Beatrix Potter.

I’m that lucky little girl. Forever grateful to parents who took the time to read and encourage reading.

Nowadays you’re more likely to find me in the fantasy section of the library, buried nose deep in the latest Neil Gaiman or Steven King novel. I also love historical fiction and crime thrillers. I like to keep it varied!

Being part of our Book Club has introduced me to literature I would never have read by choice. There are books I definitely still wouldn’t choose, but some I have fallen in love with and will read over and over… and over again.
